Redbird
Ted "Redbird" Garner is Director of
STARBASE Connecticut.
Redbird is a veteran teacher who came to
STARBASE looking for a unique way to
engage students in important topics that can
shape their futures & the future of us all.

Felix "Northstar" Cowey is the Deputy Director
of STARBASE Connecticut and works out of our
Waterbury office at Naugtuck Valley
Community College.
Northstar is a veteran science educator who
came to STARBASE looking to get students
excited about science and to help create that
"Oh Cool!" moment.

Dory
Liz "Dory" Pollard is an educator at STARBASE
Windsor Locks.
Liz is an experienced teacher who came to
STARBASE because she saw it as a place to
use her enthusiasm & teaching skills to help
kids create stronger positive connections to
STEM, learning, & their peers.

Lyra
Diana "Lyra" Toro works at STARBASE Waterbury. Originally from
Puerto Rico, Lyra has more than 21 years of experience teaching
math, science and technology. In addition she has worked on NASA
SOI (Summer Of Innovation) programs as well as other NASA
projects.
When asked about the importance of STEM she said, "I think that
STEM education is the foundation of a nation, it`s an economical
and competitive strategy that needs to develop policies that can
stimulate our youths interest in careers related to Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics."

Skywalker
Derek “Skywalker” Duval is an Educator at STARBASE
Windsor Locks. After 10 years as a Technology and
Engineering teacher, Derek brings his passion for
multimedia design and emerging technologies to
STARBASE. He is excited to work with younger
students to help create meaningful connections to
technology, new and old, to prepare students for our
rapidly changing new world.

Omega Dude
Scott "Omega Dude" Abrams works at STARBASE
Waterbury.
Omega Dude is an experienced teacher who comes to
STARBASE in order to bring his love of science,
learning, teaching, and humor to students in order to
help them realize and maximize their potential, learn
about the joys and opportunities that STEM can
present to them. He also wishes to give them a fun
experience that they will remember and pass on.

Janice "Sunny" Kirby is the Office Manager at STARBASE
Windsor Locks.
Sunny is an experienced office manager and certified
personal trainer. She came to STARBASE for an
opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Now she is
ready to work out some minds in her new fun and
engaging learning environment!
